and his crew start early today. At 8.00 am the dry-in of the roof is started: the roof is sealed and galvanized metal is laid down in the valleys to make the roof waterproof and to prepare ways for the waterflow.
Furthermore the drip edges are installed, too. Later on the shingles will be laid down over those and the fascia will be slided underneath.
First step: cut the tar paper ... |
... second step: put down tar in the valley and glue and nail the galvanized metal to it ... |
... third step: seal it oncemore with tar ... |
... and this guy is waiting for the nail gun to mount the drip edge. |

While the roofer are busy on the roof a big truck comes with the new windows of Maria's Art Studio.
Roberto is so kind to help carrying the windows into the addition.
As announced by Roberto Padilla the shingles are delivered, too, this morning: |

As we were unable to convince the inspector of our alternative way of mounting the shutters we drive by the shutter supplier to order new ones.
We will use the originally ordered shutters partially for other windows or they have to be changed to make them fit.
Maria had a hard time to figure out how to reuse those original shutters and what needs to be ordered again:
Among others the 2 big shutters for the archtop windows will be combined into a shutter for the French doors. The distance to the wall edge will be remarkedly bigger than in the engineering instructions and this will be part of the new design. The wall colors will be used to emphasize that.
Nick of the shutter supply company is a bit confused at the beginning about what we want to order now. But after several mails and phone calls we got it all together.
At the end of the day we have to drive to the DIY store to buy all the supplies Juergen needs tomorrow for the window installation.
