Furnishing of the laundry room
You can find laundry rooms in a lot of American houses, Florida is not an excemption from the rule.
Originally it might have been wash room in the cellar like in Germany (and you can find them still in a lot of the northern states).
Because of the high humidity in Florida most of the year there are no washing lines or similar as the washing would not dry anyway.
Here you can find only a washer and a dryer (and possibly some storage cabinets).
As mentioned in the introduction both the washer and the dryer were out of order when we bought the house ...
The old laundry room had a "toploader" washer:
(and if you believe the drum of this washer turns ... no, just the "screw" in the middle is the only thing going round!)

Furthermore the broom closet has been changed to a proper storage closet. Because some of our jam glasses slipped on the wire shelves Juergen put osb board on top of them:
